Privacy Policy

Unfold Music ("the app") is a practice-tracking app for musicians. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and how you can remove it.
Who runs this
Unfold Music is an independent app made by a single developer. Questions or requests about your data can be sent to joshuajltan (at) gmail (dot) com.
What the app stores locally
All of your practice data — instruments, pieces, sessions, tempo history, notes, and routines — is stored on your device first. If you never sign in, this data never leaves your device.
What syncs to the cloud (if you sign in)
Signing in with Apple or Google lets your practice data sync across your devices and back it up off-device, using Supabase as the hosting provider. Signing in stores:
- Your account identifier and email address, as provided by Apple or Google sign-in.
- The same practice data described above (instruments, pieces, sessions, tempo history, notes, routines).
The app does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind, and does not sell or share your data with advertisers.
Optional features that send data further
- Toggl Track integration— if you choose to connect your own Toggl account, the app sends your practice session times to Toggl's API using the personal API token you provide. This only happens if you explicitly turn it on, and only sends your own practice data to your own Toggl account. See Toggl's privacy policy for how they handle it from there.
- Social features — if you opt in, you may choose a username, display name, and avatar that other users of the app can see, and follow other opted-in users to see their practice activity. This is off by default and only activates if you turn it on.
Deleting your data
You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This immediately and irreversibly deletes your account and all associated data — practice history, social profile, and any connected integrations — from the server, and clears the data on your device. There is no recovery period; deletion cannot be undone.
If you'd rather not use the in-app control, email joshuajltan (at) gmail (dot) com from the address associated with your account and the same deletion will be carried out for you.
Children
Unfold Music is not directed at children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Material changes will be reflected in the app's release notes.
